store listing name differs from the official site, check this
The first search result is not always the official listing. Two fields tell them apart before you install.
For a store listing you found by search, compare the developer name with the company name on the official site footer, then see whether the site download button opens that same listing.
Key points
Read the developer name field
The line under the listing title holds the developer name. Compare it word by word with the company name on the site footer or terms page.
Follow the site download button
Click download on the official site and see which listing it opens. A jump to a file host or a direct package is a stop sign.
Scan the review questions
If reviewers ask whether this is official and the developer never answers, or the reply names another domain, treat the listing as unverified.
Compare the changelog wording
Official listings usually name the feature that changed. Clones tend to write generic lines like fixes and improvements.
Common questions
Two listings share the same name, so which one is official?
Match the developer name against the company name on the site footer, then confirm which listing the site download button opens. The one that matches both is official.
If I cannot find the official listing, can I install the first search result anyway?
Better not. Go back to the official site for its download entry, and if the site offers no store link, wait rather than guess.
